BUMPED UP - An off-duty Rosemont police officer fatally shot a man but little has been officially released about the shooting

A man was shot and killed in Rosemont on Wednesday, and a village spokesman said an off-duty Rosemont police officer is believed to be the gunman.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Joseph Caffarello, 31, of the 9800 block of Norwood Avenue in Rosemont.

Little information has been released about the shooting, which occurred in a gated community near Lange Park. Village officials said the case has been turned over to Illinois State Police because the shooting apparently involved a Rosemont officer, who has not been identified.
