Grau is one of many state directors expected to resign in the new Rauner administration. The director of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, Bobbie Gregg, has already confirmed she's leaving.
Schmitz has Rauner's approval, but the appointment will need to be confirmed by the Illinois State Senate before he can take the position.
