The Minnesota state trooper who fired his weapon following a high-speed pursuit early Tuesday in western Duluth has returned to full duty status.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension on Friday identified the trooper as Sean Hollencamp, a three-year veteran of the force. Hollencamp initially had been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard in shooting incidents.
The suspect, 43-year-old Jared Steven Haske of Duluth, is charged with four crimes, including a felony count of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.
Authorities said Haske fled an attempted traffic stop and led officers on a pursuit that lasted more than 20 minutes and saw speeds of 70-80 mph on city streets. The pursuit culminated outside a Becks Road residence, where authorities said Haske rammed at least two squad cars with his truck.
Hollencamp fired an undisclosed number of rounds from his weapon. Haske was not struck and was taken into custody after a Taser was deployed.
The BCA continues to investigate the shooting incident. Once complete, reports will be forwarded to the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office for review.
