Chicago New Year's Eve Black Violence - Tow truck driver fatally shot, 2 others injured in South Side shootings

A masked colored gunman followed a tow truck driver into a tire shop office and fatally shot him Wednesday afternoon on the South Side, according to police and the shop owner.

It happened about 2:30 p.m. in the 8000 block of South Stony Island Avenue, in the city’s Avalon Park neighborhood.
According to the woman who owns the tire shop

The victim owned his own tow truck and would contract out his services and had a pickup that hour for a customer who “needed four tires," according to the owner of the tire shop who identified herself only by her first name, Chloe.

2 Chicago firefighters injured in two-alarm blaze in South Loop

Two firefighters were taken to area hospitals during a two-alarm blaze that broke out early Wednesday morning in the South Loop.

Just before 3 a.m., firefighters were called to a restaurant near the corner of South State Street and Cermak Road.

Emergency crews elevated their response to a 2-11 alarm about 3:30 a.m. One firefighter twisted his ankle after slipping on ice at the scene, said Chicago Fire Chief Joe Roccasalva. The firefighter was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in good condition, Roccasalva said.

Mount Greenwood posts ribbons display to support police

Community members put up a display of support for police Monday in a Far Southwest Side enclave that is home to many Chicago police officers.

Patricia Mueller of Mount Greenwood said she and a neighbor tied plastic blue ribbons on trees on their block near 109th Street and Millard Avenue and posted photos of their work to the Moms of Mt. Greenwood Facebook group to encourage others to do the same.

"We felt like the police are getting such bad press right now, and we live in a neighborhood full of officers. They deserve attention before something like New York happens," Mueller said in reference to the fatal shooting of two New York City police officers earlier this month.

Jennifer Kraft, 34, is suing the city of Chicago for injuries that left her paralyzed from the chest down when she fell off the Chicago Lakefront Bicycle Trail.

Kraft says that while she was riding her bicycle north on the trail near East 37th Street in April of 2013, when the path abruptly ended. She fell nine feet to the concrete below, fracturing three vertebrae and puncturing her spine.

"All of a sudden I was on the ground, my helmet had shattered directly," Kraft says, "and then I realized I couldn't move my legs at all.

The end of the trail is now clearly marked and fenced off, but Kraft says last April she got no warning when the trail came to an abrupt end.

"There should have been more done with this dangerous area to make sure people knew about it so that they could protect themselves," she says.

Woodstock, IL - What happens when a white suburban kid embraces diversity - Four arrested in armed robbery

Alexander J. Robson, 19, of Woodstock; Aaron W. Wordlaw, 25, of Huntley; Jeremy G. Stokes, 24, of Huntley; and Nicholas A. Sanfilippo, 20, of Huntley, are each charged with aggravated robbery.

Four men have been charged with the armed robbery of a home during a drug deal Monday afternoon in northwest suburban Woodstock.

The robbery was reported in the 1100 block of North Madison Street at 3:30 p.m., according to Woodstock police.

The two victims—a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy—gave police a description of four suspects and their vehicle, a statement from police said.

Officers found the vehicle “in the immediate area” and took all four men into custody, police said.

The victims had arranged the sale of a small amount of cannabis, according to police. During the transaction, one of the suspects pulled out what looked like a firearm and stole about 3 grams of pot and tried to steal the victims' cell phones.

A pellet gun matching the description of the one used in the robbery was found in the car's glove compartment, police said.

Alexander J. Robson, 19, of Woodstock; Aaron W. Wordlaw, 25, of Huntley; Jeremy G. Stokes, 24, of Huntley; and Nicholas A. Sanfilippo, 20, of Huntley, are each charged with aggravated robbery.

Sanfilippo is also charged with resisting a peace officer, a misdemeanor, for resisting officers trying to put him in a temporary holding cell at the police department, the statement said.

All four remain in custody at the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility.

Immigrant advocates say the vast majority should be able to get licenses without trouble, but they want anyone who previously obtained a driver’s license under a false name or someone else’s Social Security number to speak first with a lawyer, fearing a new application could trigger a fraud investigation.

It's a clear No. 1 ranking for Illinois, but not one that likely will be touted by corporate recruiters or politicians.

Of all 50 states, Illinois was tops for outbound versus inbound moves in 2014, according to Allied Van Lines' annual report of where the company moved people.

The study is hardly definitive because it's based on just one company's volume.

Still, the company said it moved 4,148 customers out of Illinois this year and moved 2,776 customers into the state. In 2013, Illinois ranked second for outbound migration.

Texas' net inbound moves ranked highest for the 10th consecutive year.

Missouri — the only bright spot in the Midwest, according to the study — ranked 14th for inbound migration.

2014 - The number of law enforcement officers killed by firearms in the U.S. jumped by 56 percent this year and included 15 ambush assaults

WASHINGTON DC –  The number of law enforcement officers killed by firearms in the U.S. jumped by 56 percent this year and included 15 ambush assaults, according to a report released Tuesday.

The annual report by the nonprofit National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund found that 50 officers were killed by guns this year, compared to 32 in 2013.

In all, the report found that 126 federal, local, tribal and territorial officers were killed in the line of duty in 2014. That's a 24 percent jump from last year's 102 on-duty deaths. Shootings were the leading cause of officer deaths in 2014 followed by traffic-related fatalities, at 49.

The sharp increase in gun-related deaths among officers followed a dramatic dip in 2013, when the figure fell to levels not seen since the 19th century. This year's uptick comes amid increased tension between police and the public following the high-profile deaths of unarmed black men by white police officers, including that of Eric Garner in New York and Mike Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.

The states that saw the most officer deaths were California, at 14, Texas, at 11, and New York, at nine. Florida followed with six deaths, and Georgia had five, according to the report.

The 15 ambush assaults on police officers this year compares to just five in 2013, but matched 2012 for the highest total since 1995, the report said.

"With the increasing number of ambush-style attacks against our officers, I am deeply concerned that a growing anti-government sentiment in America is influencing weak-minded individuals to launch violent assaults against the men and women working to enforce our laws and keep our nation safe," said Craig Floyd, chairman and CEO of the memorial fund.

"Enough is enough," he said in a statement. "We need to tone down the rhetoric and rally in support of law enforcement and against lawlessness."

Among the ambush assaults were the fatal attacks on two police officers in New York City on Dec. 20. Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were gunned down in their patrol car by Ismaaiyl Brinsley after Brinsley had made threatening posts online, including a vow to put "wings on pigs" and references to the Garner and Brown cases.

After shooting the officers, Brinsley ran into a subway station and killed himself. Police said he was troubled and had shot and wounded an ex-girlfriend in Baltimore earlier that day.

Cleveland Municipal Court bailiff LEE ROY arrested, accused of having sex with woman in custody

CLEVELAND - A Cleveland Municipal Court bailiff was arrested on Christmas Eve and charged with having sex with a woman in custody, sources tell newsnet5.com.

Lee Roy, the bailiff charged, was seen receiving oral sex from a female inmate on the 13th floor of the court on Dec. 23, the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office reports.

Roy was charged with one count of sexual battery and one count of bribery.

Roy, 45, of South Euclid, has been with the court since 2008 except for a period of time during which he was laid off. He was fired Monday from the court and will be arraigned Monday afternoon.

who were attempting to rob my mother, who was also shot.

I think my murder and my mommy's wounding made the news for maybe a day, and then disappeared.

A Grand Jury of my mommy's peers from Brunswick, Georgia ruled the black teens who murdered me will not

face the death penalty... too bad it was me who got the death sentence from my killers instead, because Mommy

didn't have the money they demanded.

See, my family made the mistake of being white in a 73% non-white neighborhood, but my murder wasn't ruled

a 'hate crime'.

Oh, and President Obama didn't take a single moment to acknowledge my murder. He couldn't have any children

who could possibly look like me - so why should he care?

I'm one of the youngest murder victims in our great Nation's history, but the media didn't care to cover the story of my

being killed in cold blood.

There isn't a white equivalent of Al Sharpton, because if there was he would be branded a 'racist'. So no one's rushing

to Brunswick,Georgia to demonstrate and demand 'justice' for me. There's no 'White Panther' party, either, to put a

bounty on the lives of the two black teens who murdered me.

I have no voice, I have no representation, and unlike those who shot me in the face while I sat innocently in my stroller - I no longer have my life.

Isn't this a great country?

So while you're out seeking 'justice for Trayvon' and Michael Brown, please remember to seek 'justice' for me.

Tell your friends about me, tell you families, get tee-shirts with my face on them, and make the world pay attention,

Illegal African Alien - Maxime Fohounhedo, 30 - Uber driver charged with sexually assaulting passenger in Chicago's Lincoln Square

An Uber driver has been charged with sexually assaulting a passenger last month, a source said Monday.

Maxime Fohounhedo, 30, is accused of sexually assaulting a 22-year-old woman who was a passenger in his cab on Nov. 16 in the 2600 block of West Lawrence, according to formal charges announced by Chicago Police Monday night.

Fohounhedo was a driver for Uber at the time, according to a source.

The woman was treated at Swedish Covenant Hospital, police said.

Fohounhedo, of the 4400 block of North Lawndale, was charged with one count of criminal sexual assault and one count of criminal sexual abuse, police said.

He was scheduled to appear in bond court Tuesday.

Chicago Police warn of robberies in Lake View - Feral Black Armed Robbers on the Loose

Chicago police are warning North Side residents after separate robberies in Lake View on Sunday.

Two separate robberies were reported Sunday afternoon, according to a police alert. The first robbery happened about 1:05 p.m. Sunday in the 3700 block of North Wayne Avenue. The second robbery happened in the 3600 block of North Bosworth Avenue, just a few blocks west, about twenty minutes later, police said.

In both robberies, feral black robbers approached victims from behind, showed them a gun and demanded property, police said. In both cases, the robber fled the scene in white, older model car, according to the alert.

Margaret Huddleston, 54, and her brother Berry Huddleston, 57, were hit by an eastbound Metra train on Aug. 7 as they walked near or between the elevated tracks around 21st Street and Homan Avenue.

Black man with a checkered past, Clyde Freeman, 29, accused of pointing gun at officers near 5th district police station

A man is charged with pointing a gun at police officers and other people near a Far South Side police station Monday morning.

Clyde Freeman, 29, was arrested in the 700 block of East 111th Street about 7:15 a.m., after people approached Calumet District officers and said he pointed a weapon at them, according to a police statement.

The officers then spotted Freeman inside a vehicle holding a weapon, which he allegedly pointed at police, the statement said.

He was arrested and the weapon was recovered, police said.

Freeman, of the 7500 block of South Ridgeland, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault to a peace officer, two counts of aggravated assault using a deadly weapon, and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon.

He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday for a bond hearing.

Village Idiot breaks leg falling into open / uncovered sewer in Orland Park

A village idiot broke his leg falling into an open sewer in Orland Park Saturday evening, prompting local firefighters to rescue him and shut down parts of Harlem Avenue, officials said.

The man was walking back to his car at 151st Street and Harlem Avenue around 5:49 p.m. when he "dropped straight in" an open sewer, said Orland Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Bill Bonnar.

"You don't have somebody fall into the sewer like that every day," Bonnar said.

The man fell about 20 feet, Bonnar said. He was able to call 911 for help from underground, Bonnar said. It's unclear why the sewer was uncovered.

"I’m not sure he would've made it if he hadn't been able to make that phone call," Bonnar said.

Technical rescue firefighters helped remove the man from the hole. Bonnar said he was talking afterward but in "obvious pain" as he was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. It took firefighters about 15 minutes to find him and then about an hour and 10 minutes to pull him out, Bonnar said.


Harlem Avenue was closed from 143rd to 151st streets during the rescue operation, Bonnar said.

Bensalem PA Police: Resident shoots masturbating illegal beaner intruder - Angel Suarez Medero got shot before he could shoot his load

Police say a masturbating intruder is in critical condition after he was shot by an apartment resident in Bensalem.

Bensalem police said officers were called to the Franklin Common Apartments on Bobolink Drive at about 8:35 p.m. Sunday, when a woman reported that a man broke through a sliding glass door and was masturbating on the deck of her second-floor apartment.

The woman called 911 and fled to a neighboring apartment while the man jumped out of a bedroom window and entered another apartment, police said.

The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Angel Suarez Medero, assaulted two people inside the second apartment, police said. One of the residents then shot him twice.

Police said the struggle between the resident and Suarez Medero continued until the suspect was subdued by responding officers.

Suarez Medero was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital in critical condition. He's expected to be charged with burglary, assault and other offenses.

Authorities said the resident who shot the intruder was cooperating with police and the investigation into the incident was continuing.
