Two Chicago police officers were badly hurt and another person was injured during a car crash in the Portage Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side late Saturday night, police said.
Around 11:55 p.m., the two police officers were traveling eastbound in a marked squad SUV on Irving Park Road with its sirens on, responding to a request to assist another officer, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
A car heading southbound on Melvina Avenue slammed into them in the 6200 block of West Irving Park Road, Alfaro said.
