An hours-long standoff in the Cahuenga Pass ended today following an exchange of gunfire with police and a suspect in custody, but nobody was injured.
Police initially received a call around 7:30 a.m. about a man with a gun in the 3900 block of Fredonia Drive, in the hills south of Cahuenga Boulevard, police said.
“He was out with an associate last night, he produced a gun and basically committed an assault with a deadly weapon against his associate,” Los Angeles police Capt. Stephen Carmona said.
Police set up a perimeter around the residence, and officers eventually fired tear gas into the residence. The suspect eventually emerged “and fired rounds at the SWAT officers, and an exchange of gunfire occurred, but nobody was injured,” Carmona said.
The suspect surrendered to police around 2 p.m.
