SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department has released the footage taken from the body camera worn by the officer who shot and killed an attacker Thursday night in the Avenues.

The footage shows the officer’s confrontation with 42-year-old James Dudley Barker, who is seen in the video hitting the officer with a snow shovel.

Police were called to the area of 2nd Ave. and I St. after they received a report that Barker had been going door-to-door offering to shovel snow from people’s sidewalks. There did not appear to be snow on walkways in the area where the shooting occurred.
