Round Lake Beach 18-year-old who died in a single car accident New Year’s Day had three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system, according to the Lake County coroner’s office.

Jesus Lopez was the only person in the vehicle, which struck the cement base of the Fox Lake Family Restaurant at 56 Route 12 in Fox Lake. The crash happened about 12:55 p.m., Chief Deputy Coroner Orlando Portillo said.

“Alcohol was a factor based on the toxicology results,” Portillo said.

Lopez’s blood-alcohol content registered 0.24, three times the .08 limit.
