Woman is Waukegan’s first homicide this year - 33 Year Old Bar Fly Shot in the Face & Killed at Bueno’s Bar & Tacos at Franklin Street and North Avenue

A woman was shot and killed inside a bar in Waukegan early Friday morning, the north suburb's first homicide of the new year. Police were called to Bueno’s Bar at Franklin Street and North Avenue around 1:30 a.m. and found a 33-year-old  shot in the face, authorities said.

A gun was recovered at the scene and a man was later taken into custody, police said.  No charges have been announced. Very sad day, thoughts and prayers to the family. I'm glad that the police has someone in custody already. Sounds like a Domestic Violence incident.

“This is Waukegan’s first homicide this year," Waukegan Police Cmdr. Joe Florip said. "It’s tragic. This is not how we want to ring in our new year. This is not how we want to start our new year. Our heart goes out to our victim."
