One of Chicago’s most beloved traditions, the South Side Irish Parade, will kick off the festivities with a pre-parade fundraiser on Saturday, February 21, 2015. The family-friendly event will feature raffle prizes a silent auction, the South Side Irish Parade Queen Selection and much more. The party will be held from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at 115 Bourbon Street, 3359 West 115th Street, Merrionette Park, IL, 60803.
Tickets for the pre-parade fundraiser cost $30 and can be purchased online or at the door. Tickets include draft beer, dinner buffet and live music from the Larkin Brothers and Sean & Charlie. 2015 South Side Irish Parade merchandise and street pole banners will also be available for purchase.
“Each year the pre-parade fundraiser helps us build excitement for the parade while also raising much needed funds to produce the parade,” said Pat Coakley, co-chair of the South Side Irish Parade Committee. “The cost of operating the parade in a safe, family-friendly way has increased significantly in recent years. The pre-parade fundraiser enables us to continue honoring our community and Irish heritage,” adds Coakley.
Among the highlights of the fundraiser is the selection of the South Side Irish Parade Queen. The South Side Irish Parade Queen will be prominently featured during the South Side Irish Parade and ride in the downtown Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade. A panel of judges will interview contestants at 5 p.m. at 115 Bourbon Street just one hour ahead of the South Side Irish pre-parade fundraiser. The South Side Irish Parade Queen will be announced later in the evening. Interested young ladies of Irish descent between the ages of 18-27 are encouraged to apply. Please see www.chicagoroseoftralee.com for an application.
The South Side Irish Parade Committee sponsors the South Side Irish Parade Queen to compete in the Chicago Rose of Tralee contest as the South Side Irish Rose. The Chicago Rose of Tralee contest will be held at Gaelic Park on March 22, 2015. The winner of the Chicago Rose of Tralee will receive an all-expense paid trip to Ireland for an experience of a lifetime. The mission of the Chicago Rose of Tralee is to provide enrichment opportunities that will encourage young women of Irish descent to be exemplary role models for tomorrow’s youth and to make a positive difference in the world.
